Among the sea of tower-type CPU coolers which are the same old tripe
packaged and colored differently, few companies are actually investing
in innovation, one of them is Prolimatech. The company is working on two
new yet-unnamed CPU coolers specifically designed for socket LGA2011
motherboards, one has already taken shape, the other is still in its CGI
form.
The first one (first two images below), appears to be an leaner, fitter
evolution of the Prolimatech Genesis. While the Genesis uses a
dual-independent fin-stack design in which one stack propagates
perpendicular to the plane of the motherboard while the other propagates
parallel to the plane, on this new design, both stacks propagate
parallel to the plane, in opposite directions, and both being dissimilar
in size.
Fans are to be strapped onto both stacks, which perform top-flow
ventilation. The larger fin stack of the two ideally hovers over the
memory area of the motherboard that's east of the socket, while the
smaller one over the memory area west of it. It becomes a tight squeeze
for things west of the socket, and this is probably why this stack is
smaller. Heat is conveyed to the two by six heat-pipes, which pass
through the base.
The second cooler (last two images above), has a slightly more exotic
shape, in which the heat pipe take three sharp U-turns, in the long-arms
of each of these U-turns is an aluminum fin stack, and the CPU base is
in the center. Unlike the other cooler design, this cooler has a
side-flow ventilation. The aluminum fin stacks don't propagate all the
way down, to make room for the memory areas below. As for the
ventilation, a single 120 mm fan can be attached in the central portion,
more fans can be attached to the aluminum fin stacks at convenient
locations. There is no word on when (or if) this design will
materialize.

Cooler Master Announces the Vertical Vapor Chamber technology
After releasing the world's first heatpipe heatsink in 2000, Cooler
Master announces that it will begin to phase in Vertical Vapor Chamber
technology into its upcoming retail CPU heatsinks; a technology
initially developed by Cooler Master's OEM and industrial cooling
division.
Vertical Vapor Chambers feature less than half the air resistance by reducing airflow vortexes and noise generated by air streaming through a heatsink. At the same time vertical vapor chambers exhibit 3 times the fin contact area, enabling faster and more efficient transfer of heat from the vapor chambers to the fins, and overall more efficient use of the available fin surface area.
As a result, Vertical Vapor Chambers allow Cooler Master to develop cooling solutions with greatly reduced noise footprints or increased cooling performance in excess of 200W at the same or lower noise level as without vertical vapor chambers.

Cooler Master Displays Vapor Chamber-based CPU Fan-Heatsink
There's little innovation with tower-type CPU coolers these days,
barring the odd fancy aluminum fin design or heat-pipe layout. Cooler
Master put its engineering muscle to use by developing a new tower-type
CPU cooler that takes advantage of vapor-chamber technology. Called the
TPC 812, the cooler is just large another aluminum fin tower-type
heatsink with six heat pipes feeding head through the fin-stack, till
the part where a specially-designed vapor-chamber element finds place.
The cooler uses a copper indirect contact base, at which the six heat pipes converge at the lowest level. Above it, is a vapor-chamber plate. From this place, two thin, broad columns arise, passing through the central portion of the aluminum fin stack. The heatsink is ventilated by a 120 mm fan. With its design innovation, the TPC 812 can handle thermal loads of up to 240W. The TPC 812 from Cooler Master will be priced around the $100 mark, and will be competitive with entry-level closed-loop liquid coolers.

EVGA Intros LGA2011 Mounting Kit for SuperClock CPU Cooler
EVGA made its SuperClock CPU fan-heatsink ready for Intel's new "Sandy Bridge-E" socket LGA2011 platform with a mounting kit update
that can be purchased separately, as well as could be included in
future batches of the product. Carrying the part number M020-00-000234,
the LGA2011 mounting kit update for EVGA SuperClock, is priced at US $9.99 on the EVGA store. EVGA released the SuperClock CPU fan-heatsink this May in US, it is a tower-type fan-heatsink with design based on Swiftech Polaris 120.
EVGA's implementation makes use of black fins, heat pipes, and a red
LED-illuminated fan. Excluding the LGA2011 mounting kit, the EVGA
SuperClock is priced at $55.

Noctua today announced its new NM-I2011 mounting kit for LGA2011.
Continuing Noctua's tradition of supplying its customers with SecuFirm2
mountings free of charge, the NM-I2011 kit allows Noctua users to
upgrade to Intel's
upcoming LGA2011 socket for Core i7-3000 (Sandy Bridge-E) processors.
The new mounting is backwards compatible with all Noctua retail coolers

Thermalright Intros Revised Archon CPU Cooler
Air cooling specialist and pioneer of tower-type heatsinks,
Thermalright, released a new revision of its Archon CPU cooler. Archon
is a large tower-type heatsink that uses long aluminum fins. The
heatsink measures 170 (H) x 155 (L) x 53 (W) mm. Such is the length of
the fins that with this new revision, Thermalright decided to use a
larger 150 mm fan, the Thermalright TY-150.
The TY-150 spins 500 to 1100 RPM, can be controlled using PWM, and has a noise output range of 19 to 23 dBA. The heatsink uses six 6 mm thick nickel plated copper heat pipes to convey heat evenly to the fin stack, in two rows of U-shaped pipes. The fins themselves are angled at spots to improve heat dissipation. The heat pipes converge at a mirrored copper base, but don't make direct contact with the CPU. The new Archon Rev. A is priced at €52.90.

Zalman Announces CNPS12X High-End CPU Cooler
Zalman announced its latest high-end CPU air cooler, the CNPS12X. This beast was first shown to public
at this year's Computex trade-show, back in early June. Between then
and now, the CNPS12X got some important retention module changes that
make it fully compatible with the upcoming LGA2011 socket on which
"Sandy Bridge-E" Core i7 processors are based, as well as AMD AM3+ and
FM1. Measuring 151 x 132 x 154 mm (L x W x H), and weighing exactly 1
kg, the CNPS12X uses a design that's essentially identical to that of
the NH-D14 from Noctua, that of two fin stacks. It's just that the
stacks here are somewhat circular in shape, and that the CNPS12X uses
three fans: an intake (before the first stack), a conveyer (between the
two stacks), and an exhaust (after the second stack). All three fans are
120 mm in size, and are illuminated by blue LEDs.
The fans seem to be using 3-pin (voltage) method of speed control. Supplied with the cooler are three RC5 intermediate resistors, which make the fans spin at speeds between 850 and 1100 RPM with as low as 22 dBA noise output. Without the RC5, the fans spin between 950 and 1200 RPM, with at least 24 dBA noise output. The heatsink is made almost entirely of dark nickel-plated copper, with certain aluminum parts. Heat is conveyed to the two copper fin stacks by six nickel-plated copper heat pipes, that make direct contact with the CPU at base. Zalman did not give out pricing and availability information.

Some Corsair Hydro Series H100 Coolers Affected with Fan Controller Issues
An increasing number of users of Corsair's Hydro Series H100 CPU water
cooler have been reporting issues with its fan-controller on the company
forums. Acknowledging this, Corsair issued a general warning to all
owners of the H100 that it's likely that some of the coolers might be
part of a bad manufacturing batch. It looks like Corsair is taking steps
towards a general recall (taking back batches of H100 coolers off the
shelves, and asking users of affected batches to return their coolers
for free replacement).
Affected Hydro Series H100 series units belong to batch #11359403 (the number under the first barcode in the serial number sticker on your H100 package). The issue itself is related to the button on the unit that changes fan profiles. On affected coolers, the button doesn't change the fan profile, and the fan works on the default speeds. This doesn't quite render the cooler dysfunctional, but the cooler doesn't work as advertised, so it's a severe-enough quality issue. Prolimatech Announces Panther CPU Cooler
Prolimatech presents the Panther, their newest CPU cooler aimed to take
the mid-range by storm, while featuring the same excellent quality as
all products from Prolimatech. Besides the mounting for all modern AMD
and Intel
based systems, the Panther CPU cooler also includes a 120 mm fan with
PWM functionality. This complete package manages to impress with an
excellent price/performance ratio.
Prolimatech has set the bar with the high-end Genesis cooler, so it is only natural that the company takes their experience and engineering capabilities and develop the Panther, a potent solution for the mainstream market. The Panther utilizes less material in the most efficient manner possible, keeping a maximum of surface area while offering compact dimensions. It is also the first CPU cooler from Prolimatech which ships with a fan.
Prolimatech has taken its inspiration for this new cooler from the Armageddon, which results in the same excellent performance at a brand new price point. Both feature the same heatpipe shape, with the only difference being the number of such element as the Panther offers four 6 mm pipes.
In terms of construction, the cooler makes no compromises and offers the same level of quality as one has come to expect from Prolimatech. High quality Nickel plating has been applied to the entire cooler which does not only protect the unit but also results in a great look and feel. On top of that, the crossed fins increase the robustness of the Panther cooler.
The sophistication of this construction also shows in the shape of the heatpipes. These end in a row next to each other, so that each of them has unrestricted access to the fresh airflow of the included fan.
