Cooler Master Officially Introduces The Elite 361 Chassis

Cooler Master, an industry leading chassis, thermal solution, peripheral, and accessory manufacturer today unveils the Elite 361 rotatable chassis. A formidable Mini-Tower contender, Elite 361 focuses on versatility and expandability within a compact enclosure.

Touting a modern minimalist design, Elite 361 is engineered to be accommodating in space restricted work zones. Given its unique structure and airflow design, Elite 361 can be placed either horizontally or vertically within a space. A rotatable Cooler Master logo and four user attachable rubber feet assist in making these transitions. Front panel ports are positioned to be easily accessible in either orientation.

Viewing the interior reveals that Elite 361 supports up to a full-sized ATX motherboard, six 3.5” hard drives while being potentially expandable to a multiple graphics card configuration with its seven expansion slots. Cooler Master Announces the Vertical Vapor Chamber technology

After releasing the world's first heatpipe heatsink in 2000, Cooler Master announces that it will begin to phase in Vertical Vapor Chamber technology into its upcoming retail CPU heatsinks; a technology initially developed by Cooler Master's OEM and industrial cooling division.

Vertical Vapor Chambers feature less than half the air resistance by reducing airflow vortexes and noise generated by air streaming through a heatsink. At the same time vertical vapor chambers exhibit 3 times the fin contact area, enabling faster and more efficient transfer of heat from the vapor chambers to the fins, and overall more efficient use of the available fin surface area.

As a result, Vertical Vapor Chambers allow Cooler Master to develop cooling solutions with greatly reduced noise footprints or increased cooling performance in excess of 200W at the same or lower noise level as without vertical vapor chambers.

The high-end tower heatsink Cooler Master TPC-812, the first product based on this latest technology and Cooler Masters leading product development process will be officially released to the market in a few weeks during CeBIT 2012.

Cooler Master HAF XM Case Pictured

According to TechPowerUp, Cooler Master unveiled the latest in its High Air Flow (HAF) series of cases for enthusiasts, the HAF XM. This case is designed to strike a price-features-quality sweetspot. Made of SECC steel and ABS plastic, the HAF XM measures 252 x 530.5 x 571 mm (WxHxD), weighing about 11 kg. While it can be categorized as an ATX full-tower, it doesn't support XL-ATX. Micro-ATX, standard ATX, and E-ATX motherboards are supported. Its storage bays include three 5.25-inch, eight 3.5-inch (including two that are hot-swap capable), up to nine 2.5-inch bays (converted from 3.5-inch bays.

Its ventilation stays in line with the design ideology behind the HAF series. It includes a large 200 mm front-intake (LED-lit), room for one 140 mm or two 120 mm fans in the front; two 200 mm fans on top (one included, one optional), room for smaller 140/120 mm fans on top; a 140 mm rear exhaust; room for a 200 mm side-panel intake (optional); and room for two 120 mm fans on the HDD cage (optional). Its I/O panel includes two USB 3.0 ports, two USB 2.0 ports, and front-panel HD audio.

Silver, Beige, and Smooth Creations Variants of Cosmos II Pictured

According to TechPowerUp, Cooler Master launched its much-awaited Cosmos II case, carrying forward its iconic premium case brand into the new generation, with a new set of features that are required of cases in its segment to have. At CES, Cooler Master showed off three new variants of Cosmos II, including a premium custom design by Smooth Creations. These included a silver variant, with matte silver front, and brushed metal-like appearance on the side panel; a dark beige variant, with similar texturing; and a custom-job by Smooth Creations that features a badaxe rusty industrial paint-job, with chains replacing the four beams of the Cosmos II. Historically, Cooler Master's à la carte custom-paint cases cost in excess of $800, some over $1000. Such cases are produced in very limited quantities (go figure). The silver and beige mass-production ones, however, are expected to cost similar to the standard black one.

Cooler Master Displays Vapor Chamber-based CPU Fan-Heatsink

There's little innovation with tower-type CPU coolers these days, barring the odd fancy aluminum fin design or heat-pipe layout. Cooler Master put its engineering muscle to use by developing a new tower-type CPU cooler that takes advantage of vapor-chamber technology. Called the TPC 812, the cooler is just large another aluminum fin tower-type heatsink with six heat pipes feeding head through the fin-stack, till the part where a specially-designed vapor-chamber element finds place.

The cooler uses a copper indirect contact base, at which the six heat pipes converge at the lowest level. Above it, is a vapor-chamber plate. From this place, two thin, broad columns arise, passing through the central portion of the aluminum fin stack. The heatsink is ventilated by a 120 mm fan. With its design innovation, the TPC 812 can handle thermal loads of up to 240W. The TPC 812 from Cooler Master will be priced around the $100 mark, and will be competitive with entry-level closed-loop liquid coolers.

Cooler Master Announces The Cosmos II Chassis

In its 20th year of service, Cooler Master, an industry leading chassis, thermal solution, power supply, peripheral, and accessory manufacturer, today announced the successor to a world renowned chassis line, the Cosmos II. Incomparable in design and specifications, the Cosmos II comes in as among the first of its type. It is an Ultra Tower; a benchmark for all enclosures that exist and all that follow.

Inspired by luxurious supercars, the exterior of the Cosmos II melds aluminum, steel, and mesh into an elegant artistic piece. It utilizes a high-grade aluminum for its primary construction and form. This is supplemented by steel and mesh to add to strength, stability, and overall appeal. It maintains its trademark Cosmos profile and outlook with its reinforced aluminum rails while being further refined for today’s advancements in air/water cooling, peripheral support, and styling. Extreme Water cooling Potential
A stock Cosmos II supports a 360mm radiator in the top. Removal of the bottom hard drive cages results in space for a 240mm radiator placed on its side; having direct access to cold air from the exterior of the case. Mounting support will vary based on the radiator manufacturer. Large single 120mm or 140mm All-in-one (AIO) water cooling units are supported on the rear exhaust fan port.

Hardware Support
A full twenty percent larger than its predecessor, Cosmos II can effortlessly hold up to 13 HDDs or SSDs (2 X-docks, mid-cage 5, bottom cages 6) and multiple watercooling radiators. The Cosmos II has 10+1 expansion slots that enable users to install systems from the highest end that include of up to 4-way SLI / Crossfire builds. The +1 expansion slot allows users to install add-on cards via PCI extensions, or install other function panels for CCFL / Cold Cathode lighting control, additional cooling, and much more. Users looking to build the most extreme systems will enjoy the fact that the Cosmos II motherboard tray easily accommodates up to a XL-ATX motherboard.

Cable Management & Storage
A professional cable management look is possible with little effort. This is thanks to high quality grommets on the cable management holes and utilizing the many available cable tie zones. Smarter, and larger, placements of these areas allow for efficiently routing cables. A wide array of hardware can be mounted tool-free via the use of the included locking mechanisms, trays, and thumb screws. A very large CPU heat sink retention hole has been placed in the motherboard tray to allow it to be compatible with most types of CPU and motherboard layouts (Current LGA2011 and AMD FM1 sockets are supported).

The included front panel connections and controls provide a user with the ability to make on-the-fly changes to fan speed and case LEDs while USB 3.0 and 2.0 ports, and audio connections are also provided as an added means of convenience. This is topped off by two HDD/SSD X-docks in two 5.25” bays. These make mounting extra drives as easy as loading a Blu-ray/DVD/CD.

Early January Launch for Cooler Master Cosmos II

Techpowerup got their first glimpse of the next major update of the iconic Cosmos case from Cooler Master, the Cosmos II, in as early as June, as the Computex event was wrapping up. It still had some rough edges, and we were then told that a market launch was expected in the September~October time-frame. That of course, never happened, and the only other time we saw this elusive case was when it was chosen to house the MaximumPC Dream Machine 2011, in July. Alas, even as this year draws to a close, there's no sign of the Cosmos II anywhere. That was, until Cooler Master sent a press and subscriber email last week (dated 10th December), pointing out that the official launch was about 24 days away, or the 3rd of January, 2012. Just in time to hog some CES limelight.
