Kingston To Cut Prices of NAND Flash-Based Products
Memory industry major Kingston is working towards reducing prices of its
products that are based on NAND flash memory. This includes a large
chunk of Kingston's product portfolio, as the only products excluded
would be DRAM. NAND flash-based products include memory cards, USB flash
drives, and SSDs. Kingston will reportedly cut prices by as much as 15
percent. Responding to a DigiTimes report, Kingston said that it is
adjusting its NAND flash product pricing to coordinate with the rest of
the industry to shift towards more advanced processes, and that it wants
to enhance its presence in the NAND flash market. In other words,
Kingston is clearing its inventory to make way for newer, more advanced
technology.

Kingston Intros New DataTraveler Micro USB Flash Drives
Kingston released its newest line of ultra-compact USB flash drives in
Europe, the DataTraveler Micro. Available in capacities of 8 GB and 16
GB, the biggest selling point of these drives are their dimensions of
256 x 167 x 84 mm. That aside, they use the older USB 2.0 interface. The
drives use a capped design with shortened body. The outer body is
rubberized. There's provision to strap in a lanyard. The 8 GB variant is
priced at 8.50 Euros which approximately RM35, and the 16 GB one at 16 Euros which approximately RM66.

Kingston Digital Introduces New Ultra-Secure DataTraveler 6000 USB Flash Drive
Kingston Digital, Inc., the Flash memory affiliate of Kingston
Technology Company, Inc., the independent world leader in memory
products, today announced the DataTraveler 6000 (DT6000) USB Flash
drive, which protects sensitive data with Federal Information Processing
Standard (FIPS) 140-2 Level 3 Validation and 100-percent encryption.
For financial service organizations and government agencies that need

The Kingston DT6000 utilizes patented Secured by Spyrus technology which supports 256-bit AES hardware-based encryption using XTS block cipher mode. XTS is current generation technology that provides much stronger protection than other block cipher modes such as CBC and ECB. The DT6000 uses ‘military-grade’ elliptic curve cryptography (ECC), which is recommended by the U.S. National Security Agency (NSA) as part of its Suite B set of cryptographic algorithms.

Frequent news stories show that security breaches associated with USBs are more often the result of negligence (lost drives) and a lack of security policy, education and enforcement rather than malicious intent. The first product to be released from the partnership between Kingston Digital, Inc., and BlockMaster is presented today at the opening of the annual RSA conference in San Francisco. The SafeConsole Ready hardware-encrypted secure USB drive DataTraveler Vault — Privacy Managed (DTVPM) from Kingston is mandatory managed by the central management server SafeConsole from BlockMaster.

Kingston Launches First USB 3.0 Flash Drive
Kingston today announced it is shipping its first USB 3.0 Flash drive. The Kingston DataTraveler Ultimate 3.0 Flash drive takes advantage of the faster USB 3.0 specification that has up to ten times the data transfer rates of the current USB 2.0 specification.
The DataTraveler Ultimate 3.0 has a read speed of 80MB/sec. and a write speed of 60MB/sec. It is available in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB capacities. The combination of speed and size makes it ideal for data backup or fast transferring of large files including music, photos and videos. To ensure backwards compatibility, Kingston is also including a Y cable as some USB 2.0 ports require it to initialize USB 3.0 drives.
